Does the mobile remote work alongside live transcription?

Yes, absolutely. The mobile remote and live transcription run completely independently. You can control your presentation from your phone while the AI continues listening and detecting Bible verses in the background. There is no conflict — both operate simultaneously over your local Wi-Fi network without interrupting each other.

Can I use In the Beginning AI without an internet connection?

Yes. Bible search, verse display, and the mobile remote all work completely offline. Online transcription requires a stable internet connection, but on Mac with Apple Silicon you can also use offline transcription (MLX-Whisper) which runs entirely on your device — no internet needed at all.

How accurate is the verse detection?

Verse detection uses two engines working together. When a speaker cites a reference like "John 3:16" directly, detection is near-instant with very high confidence. When scripture is paraphrased or quoted without a reference, the AI semantic engine searches 31,000+ verses and typically returns the correct result within 200–400ms. For best results, connect a direct audio feed from your mixing board rather than a laptop microphone.

What Bible translations are supported?

In the Beginning AI currently supports six translations: KJV, NKJV, NIV, NLT, ESV, and NASB. You can switch translations at any time in Settings and the change takes effect instantly across search results and live verse display. Additional translations may be added in future updates.

Can I connect it to OBS, vMix, or ProPresenter?

Yes. In the Beginning AI supports NDI output, which lets you send the verse display as a video source to any NDI-compatible software — OBS, vMix, Resolume, ProPresenter, and more. You can also use direct HDMI output to a projector or monitor, or use the OSC and HTTP API for advanced remote control integration.

Is my sermon audio stored or sent to a third party?

Sermon transcripts are stored locally on your device only — never on our servers. When using online transcription mode, audio is streamed to Deepgram for processing and is not retained. Sermon notes generation sends transcript text to OpenAI for processing. Anonymous usage analytics can be disabled at any time in Settings. No sermon content is ever collected.

What devices and operating systems are supported?

In the Beginning AI runs on Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and macOS 12 Monterey or later. Offline transcription requires a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). The mobile remote works on any phone or tablet connected to the same Wi-Fi network. We recommend at least 4 GB RAM (8 GB for best performance).

What happens if the internet drops mid-service?

If the connection drops briefly, the app reconnects automatically. If it stays down, live transcription will pause — but manual Bible search and verse display continue to work entirely offline. Best practice: pre-load key verses in the Queue before the service starts so you can display them regardless of connectivity. A mobile hotspot as backup is also recommended for venues with unreliable Wi-Fi.
